The city of Agra had been the capital of the erstwhile Mughal Empire during the times of Shah Jahan, whose ruling period is considered to be the golden age of India in Indian history. Agra Fort :-<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The fort of Agra<\/a> built by the emperor Akbar is the famous palace built in Red Sandstone in the history of Mughals. The fort was built in 1565 and was at times revamped and reconstructed by Shah Jahan. This fort is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.<\/p>\n\n\n

Akbar\u2019s Tomb, Sikandra :-<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The tomb of Akbar situated at Sikandra is one place a traveler cannot miss to visit while paying a visit to the Taj Mahal<\/a>. This is the mausoleum of the great Emperor Akbar of the Mughal era and was built by Jahangir, his son in the year 1613.<\/p>\n\n\n

Fatehpur Sikri :-<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The city of fatehpur Sikri was the capital of the Mughal Empire for a while but then was changed because the city had to be deserted due to the shortage of water in the city. The remains of the city are quite interesting to watch.<\/p>\n\n\n

Itmad-Ud-Daula Tomb :-<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The tomb of Itmad-ud-daula was commissioned by Nur Jahan, who was the wife of Jahangir and was built to commemorate Mirza Ghiyas Beg. The tomb is located at the left bank of Yamuna and quite similar to the Taj Mahal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mankameshwar Temple :-<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The temple is situated at a distance of 2. 5 Kms from the monument of Taj Mahal and is said to be one of the 4 ancient temples of Shiva. The temple is surrounded by markets of the Mughal era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ram Bagh :-<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ram Bagh is one of the ancient gardens of the Mughal style and was constructed more than a century ago. The real name of this garden was the Aram Bagh or the garden of Relaxation.<\/p>\n\n\n
